Description

Ladybugs on plant stake thing.

Taken with my beloved Canon Rebel X2i. :)

So I think we bought some ladybugs at a gardening store and released them. In the morning, only a few were left and I took out my amazing new camera I had gotten only a few days before and started taking pictures. I like how they turned out.

I love a good bug. Bugs are so cute, but this takes cute to a whole new level!

Vision
You clearly knew what you were after, and I believe you achieved it. This follow-the-leader teaser with the almost touching is fantastically caught on camera. The aperture of the background blurring it into an almost bokeh-like atmosphere give the ladybugs a mystical quality. I wonder what they will do when they reach the top??

Originality
I do like bugs and take a lot of pictures of them myself. You got just close enough for the details but far enough away to create a fantastic atmosphere that just sucks you right in! It tells a story too, even if you can't read it. I can see them at the bottom of the stick, starting their race to the top. The ending is all I am missing. It is like a cliff-hanger.

Technique
You do have some skill with your camera. As an amateur photographer, I am drawn to this image, trying to learn what you did so I can try to recreate it and improve myself. In the same breath though, I notice that the iso may have been a little high on this. There is some grain in the photograph, and the sunlight on the ladybugs is somewhat distracting. All that could easily be fixed with a little postwork though.

Impact
It tells a story. It generates interest. I haven't seen ladybugs like this before. The impact is good, but not great. While what you capture is fantastic, the impact would have been greater at a downward angle, watching them as they climbed towards you as opposed to past you. The story would have been the same, the technique mostly the same, and the general atmosphere could have been retained, but the impact would have been greater.
